Simplify processes to make quick decisions on
classroom occupancy and ventilation.

Like all educational centres, the Girona's University has the challenge of presenting comfortable spaces with health guarantees due to Covid-19. After a first unsuccessful attempt to monitor air quality, the UDG contacted Orpheus to implement a quick, simple and reliable solution in its faculties to face the new school semester.

PROJECT

Schools are constantly ventilating their classrooms as a measure to prevent the spread of viruses, making an inefficient use of the energetic resources of the building. Therefore, the discomfort is enhanced, having a negative impact of the students results.

UGD showed us this problem. What they didn’t know is that they are able to control the different variables in real time, thanks to Orpheus, which also help to make long term decisions. We install Orpheus in each classroom in order to collect and analyze data related to CO2 concentration, movement and temperature… in that way, the university’s office, advised by our team of engineers.

ADVANTAGES

By converting the UDG into a Smart Building, the problems of security and comfort in the classrooms have been solved.

Now, the University is able reorganise the timetables in order to renew the air in a better way, and we can also check which is the maximum capacity for the classrooms so as not to exceed the recommended values. In addition, they also know when the classrooms are occupied through the movement sensor and they can better consider when it is necessary to ventilate the area.

Making decisions about seating capacity and efficient timetable distribution has boosted student confidence and improved decision-making now that classes are face-to-face.
